Yandex Music Launches Enhanced Web Version After Successful Beta Testing

Yandex Music has concluded the beta testing of the new web version of its service, the company announced to Habr. «With the revamped interface, users are listening to ‘My Wave’ 12% longer, and overall music listening time has risen by 7%,» Yandex Music stated.

The main page of the new web version features two key sections: a personalized area called «For You,» where content is curated to fit each user’s preferences using machine learning technologies, and «Trends,» which showcases editorial playlists and charts.

In this updated web version of Yandex Music, users can now customize the side menu by pinning their favorite settings from My Wave, playlists, artists, or albums. Additionally, the site now offers trailers, concert recommendations, a ticket purchasing feature, and the option to listen to music in lossless quality.

«Thanks to a unified functionality, switching between platforms becomes seamless and straightforward for the user—providing a consistently user-friendly interface across any device. Moreover, users can easily transition between platforms, such as starting a track in the mobile app and continuing in the web version right where they left off,» Yandex Music added.

Subscribers to Yandex Plus enjoy full access to all features of the new web version, including the personalized recommendation system «My Wave.» Users without a subscription have limited access, allowing them to listen to music and podcasts, as well as editorial playlists and selections in the «Trends» section, but with ads.

Earlier, the Yandex Music mobile app introduced an option for automatic sound quality selection, so users don’t have to switch manually between the three existing audio modes. Yandex Music explained to Habr that this automatic mode operates through a special algorithm, adjusting to the optimal sound quality level for the user at that moment.

In February, Yandex Music launched a personalized rating of the most listened-to artists for each user, as reported by Yandex. This feature can be found in the «Favorite Artists» section of «Collections,» where a new block called «Your Top of the Month» displays the ranking of the most popular artists.
