Wolff Comments on Russells Contract Extension After Canadian GP Victory

The head of the Formula 1 team Mercedes, **Toto Wolff**, commented on the expiring contract of driver **George Russell** after his victory at the Canadian Grand Prix.

“George has been with us for quite a while and is showing great progress. The steps he has taken from being a young driver at Williams to moving to Mercedes during a challenging period have been impressive, especially as he has demonstrated his capability alongside Lewis. Since Lewis’s departure, George has naturally emerged as the senior driver in the team. There are no hidden agendas here; he has simply claimed the position he rightly deserves.

The atmosphere within the team is fantastic. We just need to take some time to resolve these matters. June and July will see us racing back-to-back. However, we are committed to making this contract extension happen. He has been part of the Mercedes junior program since he turned 16, just like Kimi. So, his future is not contingent on whether he wins this race or performs well, as we already know he is capable of great results,” Wolff stated, as reported by Racingnews365.
