Veteran Coach Sergey Cherkas on NHL Draft: If Our Players Arent Selected, Theyll Play in Russia

Former SKA coach Sergey Cherkas commented on the absence of selected Russian forwards in the NHL draft for the first time since 2005.

«I don’t think this is something to be overly concerned about. In reality, there are only a few young players with standout talent worth mentioning. Therefore, it’s not surprising. The top players have already moved on; Demidov was the last one. On the flip side, there are many promising players in Russia, both within SKA’s system and in other teams. So, it’s not the end of the road. There’s no cause for alarm. If our young players weren’t chosen in the draft, it just means they’ll continue to play in Russia,» Cherkas’ words were reported by «Soviet Sport.»
