Unveiling RuneScape: Dragonwilds — An Epic Cooperative Survival Adventure in an Open World

Jagex, the creator of the iconic MMORPG RuneScape, has announced RuneScape: Dragonwilds — an open-world game featuring survival and crafting elements set within the familiar fantasy realm.

Built using Unreal Engine 5, the game will enter early access on PC via Steam this spring. Players will embark on a journey to the uncharted continent of Ashenfall, where ancient dragons have awakened.

The goal is to survive, gather resources, build shelters, and develop skills to defeat the Dragon Queen either solo or with friends (up to four players). The powerful force known as Animate, which embodies the living essence of the RuneScape universe and serves as a source of magic, will add a unique twist: for instance, players can summon spectral axes for chopping trees or blast ore veins.

Alpha testing for RuneScape: Dragonwilds took place at the end of 2024. Following its early access launch, the developers plan to continue refining the game based on player feedback. More information is set to be revealed during a Twitch stream on April 15.
