Ukraine Embraces 30-Day Ceasefire as U.S. Revives Military Support and Intelligence Partnership

On Tuesday, Ukraine endorsed a U.S. initiative proposing a 30-day general ceasefire with Russia. In response, the United States agreed to remove restrictions on military support and intelligence sharing, according to a joint statement.

Following discussions held in Saudi Arabia, both parties reached a consensus to finalize an agreement regarding Ukrainian minerals as soon as possible.

«Ukraine conveyed its willingness to accept the U.S. proposal for an immediate temporary ceasefire lasting 30 days, which may be extended upon the mutual consent of both parties and is contingent upon acceptance and simultaneous implementation by the Russian Federation,» the joint statement after the meetings indicated.

«The United States will inform Russia that its reciprocal actions are crucial for establishing peace,» it further noted.

«The U.S. will promptly resume intelligence sharing and security assistance for Ukraine.»

In a separate context, President Donald Trump halted aid following a troubled meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, on February 28.
