UEFA Imposes Fines on Mbappe and Two Real Madrid Players for Provocations in Atletico Match

UEFA has imposed sanctions on three players from Real Madrid following the second leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match against Atlético Madrid, which ended 0-1 (4-2 on penalties). According to AS, forward Kylian Mbappé was fined €30,000, defender Antonio Rüdiger received a €40,000 fine, and midfielder Dani Ceballos was penalized with a €20,000 fine.

It is worth noting that the players were accused of provoking the opposing fans. Additionally, all three received a conditional one-match suspension under UEFA’s jurisdiction should similar incidents occur in the future. Real Madrid’s defense argued that the players’ actions were a reaction to fans throwing objects onto the field. However, their appeal went unanswered.

As a reminder, Real Madrid lost to Atlético in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 at the Civitas Metropolitano Stadium with a score of 0-1. The first leg had ended with the same score in favor of Real Madrid. In the subsequent penalty shootout, Real proved to be the stronger side.
