The Winter Winds: George Martins 13-Year Struggle With His Lifes Curse

George R.R. Martin, the creator of the «A Song of Ice and Fire» series, recently gave a brief interview to Time. In this discussion, the author once again addressed the ongoing work on «The Winds of Winter,» the sixth installment of his iconic fantasy saga.

Martin acknowledged that the book has, in essence, turned into a curse for him, as he has been working on it for over 13 years. He also mentioned the constant distractions caused by HBO’s adaptations, revealing that he is currently assisting the network with «The Hedge Knight» and another unannounced project.

The last update Martin provided regarding «The Winds of Winter» was at the end of 2023, when he had approximately 1,100 pages written. He indicated that around 75% of the book was complete; since then, more than 15 months have passed.
