Tether CEO Claims USDT Is a Temporary Step Towards a Bitcoin-Standarded Future

In the long run, the stablecoin USDT is predicted to become «useless,» with the assertion that «the world will only use Bitcoin.» This statement was made by Paolo Ardoino, the CEO of Tether, during an episode of the Bitcoin Italia podcast.

According to Ardoino, the global financial system is headed for a crisis that could lead to the collapse of national currencies and hyperinflation. In such a scenario, he explained, only the original cryptocurrency—Bitcoin—would survive.

He referred to USDT as a «transitional product» and emphasized that Tether’s role is to help countries with unstable economies gradually shift toward a Bitcoin standard.

Ardoino underscored the resilience of digital gold by stating, «This is a currency that can endure any disaster, even over the next 2000 years.»

In closing, the CEO of Tether noted that USDT will continue to exist as long as there is a demand for it.

It’s worth recalling that earlier this month, Ardoino refuted JPMorgan’s claims regarding non-compliance with U.S. laws. Experts from the bank indicated that Tether would need to sell Bitcoin to comply with the proposed regulations for stablecoins in the country.

Previously, Ardoino had dubbed Tether the «best friend» of the U.S. government, highlighting the company’s success in maintaining better relations with America compared to its competitors.
