Surviving the Corporate Wasteland: Red Thread Games Unveils Hello Sunshine

The Norwegian studio Red Thread Games, recognized for titles like Dreamfall Chapters, Draugen, and Dustborn, has unveiled a new project called Hello Sunshine, a survival RPG.

In Hello Sunshine, players find themselves in the remnants of a corporate empire, where a once-thriving company has left a scorched earth, now dominated by automated systems. Gamers will assume the role of the «Last Employee,» tasked with reaching a tower on the horizon while surviving—either solo or in co-op mode—and scavenging resources from military vehicles, stations, and abandoned settlements.

The sun will be your adversary. To avoid succumbing to its harsh rays, the developers have included a giant robot companion. In its shadow, you will be shielded from the searing heat and radiation. However, nighttime poses a different threat; during the freezing nights, when the robot needs to recharge its energy, you must fend for yourself: set up camp to keep warm, prepare meals, craft new gear, upgrade your equipment, and stay alert for strangers—appearances can be deceiving.

You can enhance the robot with customizable sensors, defensive systems, and parts. Cosmetic upgrades are also available, including stickers and new paint jobs. Players can also expect to develop a friendship with the robot. Over time, this metal giant will become an invaluable ally on your journey, capable of uncovering secrets hidden in the wasteland, assisting with obstacles, and defending against hostile machines.

The game features a corporate hierarchy system, where players ascend by completing various routine tasks. The higher the level of the «Last Employee,» the more perks they receive from the corporation, including access to vending machines in the ruins and relaxation areas.

Hello Sunshine currently lacks a release date but promises Russian localization for its text. The project is being developed for PC on Steam.
