SteamOS Update Enhances Wi-Fi Stability on Steam Deck OLED and Fixes Multiple Bugs

Valve has released a new version of SteamOS, 3.7.13, which addresses Wi-Fi issues with the Steam Deck OLED, along with various other patches.

The Steam Deck OLED is a fantastic device for portable gaming, making a reliable and stable Wi-Fi connection essential. The update 3.7.13 introduces a feature called «Out Exploring,» which resolves the regression of Wi-Fi signal on the Steam Deck OLED.

Additionally, fixes have been implemented for input problems on the Asus ROG Ally and for system hangs on Strix Point devices.

Another noteworthy change enhances the recognition of the power button on third-party devices, such as the Ayaneo and OneXPlayer systems.

Here’s the complete list of updates:

— Resolved a freeze bug related to the battery level indicator;
— Fixed the frame rate change in VRR that affected on-screen performance overlays;
— Eliminated game stuttering when using volume control keys;
— Corrected the issue where the backlight of the Legion Go S joystick turned off when entering desktop mode;
— Resolved input loss from the controller on the Asus ROG Ally;
— Fixed the lack of button registration on the Asus ROG Ally;
— Addressed a hang during boot on Strix Point platforms;
— Suspended experimental Wake-on-Bluetooth support for the Steam Deck LCD while investigating false wake-up issues;
— Fixed an error that could cause visual distortion when performing Sharp scaling on HDR/10-bit applications interacting with overlays;
— Eliminated the issue where the cursor wouldn’t appear in the lower right quadrant of the screen while using a magnifier;
— Prevented visual distortion lines from appearing with the cursor when using Sharp upscaling in certain situations;
— Corrected bugs with some overlay key bindings involving Shift, Super key, right Alt, or Return/Enter that could not be activated;
— Fixed an error where OBS Studio was incompatible with streaming output provided by gamescope;
— Resolved an issue where clicking mailto: links sometimes did not show the correct error message;
— Fixed a problem where volume keys occasionally adjusted audio output incorrectly on the 3.5mm jack;
— Addressed a regression from SteamOS 3.6 that caused sound issues in God of War: Ragnarok;
— Added support for additional color filters;
— Introduced the Orca screen reader and espeak-ng text-to-speech tools;
— Corrected issues with magnifier scaling and offsets when using Sharp upscaling.

For developers, some btrfs and lvm2 modules have been added to udisks.

In May, Valve released the first stable distribution of SteamOS 3.7.8 for the Steam Deck and third-party devices, including the Lenovo Legion Go S and Asus ROG Ally. The installation image for the new version is 3.1 GB.
