Sony Raises PlayStation 5 Prices in Europe and Other Regions Amid Economic Challenges

The Vice President of International Marketing at **Sony Interactive Entertainment**, **Isabelle Tomatis**, announced that the price of the standard PlayStation 5 will be increased. According to her, the decision to take this «difficult step» was prompted by the challenging economic landscape.

This price adjustment will affect countries in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, as well as the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. The changes take effect today, April 14. Here are the updated prices:

Specific figures for Africa and the Middle East haven’t been provided, and consumers have been advised to consult local retailers for this information. It’s worth noting that **Sony** had already raised prices for the PS5 in several regions back in 2022. For instance, at launch, the digital version of the console was priced at 399 euros in Europe. This means that the «PlayStation» has increased in price by 100 euros since its debut in this region.

On a brighter note for residents of the aforementioned areas, the removable disc drive for the PS5 will see a price reduction.

The price adjustments do not affect the PS5 Pro. It remains uncertain whether prices for the entire PlayStation 5 lineup in the U.S. will change due to the introduction of tariffs.
