Solo Miner Strikes Gold: $330,386 Reward for Mining Bitcoin Block #899,826

On June 5, an independent miner successfully mined block #899,826 in the Bitcoin network, earning a reward of 3.151 BTC (approximately $330,386).

The miner utilized the CKpool platform. According to mempool.space, the block consisted of 3,680 transactions, with an average transaction fee of around $0.29 and a median rate of about 2 sat/vB.

CKPool administrator Con Kolivas suggested that the miner employed leased hash rate. He observed that the participant’s hash rate had surged dramatically just before the block was mined, reaching 259 PH/s. Kolivas pointed out that only a single worker was connected to the pool, whereas this account typically exhibited a much lower hash rate.

He also emphasized that this marked the 300th block mined by a solo miner through CKpool.

As of June 5, the total network hash rate stood at 796 EH/s. Under these conditions, the odds of a solo miner succeeding were just 0.03%, which translates to roughly 1 in 3050.

It’s worth noting that on March 10, a solo miner mined block #887,212 and earned about $250,000 using a device that cost $299.

Additionally, on May 31, the mining difficulty of Bitcoin reached a historic high of 126.98 T.
