Solana достигает рекорда в 107 540 TPS, но реальная пропускная способность ниже Translation: Solana Hits Record 107,540 TPS, but Real Throughput Falls Short

Solana became the first blockchain to reach 107,540 transactions per second (TPS) during a stress test, as reported by Helius co-founder Mert Mumtaz.

On August 17, one block of the network successfully processed 43,016 transactions, with only 50 resulting in failure. However, the majority of these transactions were «no-op» (no operation), meaning they did not perform any actual computations but simply tested the network’s throughput.

Mumtaz emphasized that despite the test’s conditions, Solana could theoretically handle between 80,000 and 100,000 TPS for standard operations such as transfers and oracle updates.

In reality, the blockchain’s capacity is lower. According to Solscan, the current TPS is approximately 3,700. Around two-thirds of the transactions are essential operations performed by validators for consensus, artificially inflating the metrics.

Estimates suggest that Solana’s actual throughput is between 1,004 and 1,050 transactions per second, which is 59 times greater than that of the Ethereum mainnet.

Over the past month, the number of active addresses on the Solana network reached 80.9 million, while the total number of transactions hit 2.4 billion.

The primary activities on Solana are linked to meme coins and DeFi. The most popular platforms within the ecosystem remain the «funny coin» generating site Pump.fun and the DEX aggregator Jupiter.

As per DeFi Llama, the total value locked (TVL) in Solana exceeded $10.4 billion, which is 11% lower than the historical peak of $11.7 billion achieved in January of this year.

At the time of writing, the native token of the ecosystem, SOL, is trading at $181. According to CoinGecko, it has dropped by 5.7% in the last 24 hours amid a general market correction.

It is worth noting that on August 14, the price of Solana surpassed $205 for the first time since July.
