Shitov from Krylia Sovetov Backs Spartak in RPL Title Race

A player from Samara’s «Krylia Sovetov,» Vladislav Shitov, shared his thoughts on the fight for victory in the Russian Premier League as this season unfolds.

— What are your thoughts on the race for the championship in the RPL?
— Out of curiosity, I keep an eye on it, of course, although our focus shouldn’t be on the top of the table. I tend to support «Spartak» as they appear more confident than the others. If they can avoid dropping points, they have a good chance at securing first place. Currently, I’m enjoying how «Spartak» plays; they show an appealing style, — Shitov’s words were quoted by «Euro-Football.Ru.»

After 25 rounds of the current Russian Premier League season, «Krasnodar» is in the lead, two points ahead of «Zenit,» which is in second place. Moscow’s «Spartak» rounds out the top three with 50 points. The reigning champion of Russia is «Zenit,» who has clinched the RPL title six times in the last six years.
