Scottish School to Become the UKs First to Accept Bitcoin for Tuition Payments

Lomond School, a boarding institution located in Helensburgh, Scotland, will begin accepting tuition payments in Bitcoin starting in the autumn of 2025, according to a report from the BBC.

The decision made by the school was influenced by requests from parents of students, including those from abroad.

The administration believes this initiative aligns with the school’s values of independent thinking and innovation.

The implementation of cryptocurrency payments will occur in phases. Initially, any Bitcoin received will be converted into British pounds to mitigate currency risks. The school does not plan to accept other cryptocurrencies apart from Bitcoin.

Lomond School claims to be the first private school in the UK to introduce cryptocurrency payments.

The annual tuition fee can go up to £38,000 (approximately $49,700 or about 0.58 BTC at the time of writing). The institution enrolls both local and international students aged 3 to 18.

In related news, it was suggested in the state of Georgia, USA, to introduce children in kindergarten to blockchain technology.
