Russia Sets New Record with 267 Drones Targeting Ukraine in Single Night

Russia unleashed 267 drones on Ukraine overnight, marking a «record» number since the onset of the invasion in February 2022, according to comments made by the Ukrainian air force on Sunday.

Air force spokesperson Yuriy Ignat characterized the 267 drones observed in the Ukrainian airspace from Saturday to Sunday as «the highest number for a single attack» since the conflict began nearly three years ago.

Of these, 138 were intercepted by air defense systems, while 119 were reported as «lost» without causing any damage, he noted in a Facebook post.

He did not specify the fate of the remaining 10 drones, but a separate statement from the armed forces on Telegram indicated that several areas, including Kyiv, had sustained attacks.

Regional authorities reported that a Russian missile strike late Saturday resulted in one fatality and five injuries in the central town of Kryvyi Rig, as reported on Sunday.

In an effort to mitigate the frequent Russian assaults, Ukraine has consistently targeted Russian supply lines far from the front lines during the conflict, including direct strikes on military installations and industrial facilities within Russia.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Sunday that twenty Ukrainian drones aimed at Russia were «destroyed» overnight.

The invasion of Ukraine by Russia began on February 24, 2022, with the Kremlin asserting that its objective is to safeguard itself against the perceived threat of NATO’s expansion.
