Ripple Co-Founder Moves $30 Million in XRP Just Before Record-High Surge

On July 17, Chris Larsen, co-founder of [Ripple](https://forklog.com/cryptorium/chto-takoe-ripple), transferred $30 million worth of XRP to Coinbase, as reported by [The Block](https://www.theblock.co/post/363186/ripple-co-founder-chris-larsen-moves-nearly-30-million-worth-of-xrp-to-coinbase-as-token-nears-all-time-high). The following day, the token reached a new all-time high of $3.65.

According to XRPScan, since the beginning of 2025, Larsen has sent XRP valued at $344 million to exchanges and external wallets. It is still unclear whether any of these assets were sold.

Currently, the Ripple co-founder holds approximately 2.6 billion XRP, valued at over $8.5 billion at the present exchange rate. Forbes estimates Larsen’s net worth at $9.7 billion, which is $6.5 billion higher than in 2024.

Larsen’s transfers coincided with a nearly 6% increase in XRP over the last 24 hours, according to [CoinGecko](https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/xrp). On July 18, the altcoin surpassed its previous all-time high of $3.40 set in 2018.

At the time of writing, XRP is trading at $3.43.

The rise of Ripple’s token has occurred amid a general upswing in the cryptocurrency market. Its market capitalization has surpassed the $4 trillion mark for the first time. This rally was fueled by news that three cryptocurrency bills were [approved](https://forklog.com/news/kongress-ssha-odobril-tri-zakonoproekta-o-kriptovalyutah) in the US.

XRP has now become the third-largest crypto asset by market value, overtaking [USDT](https://forklog.com/cryptorium/chto-takoe-tether). The current market cap of the altcoin stands at $202 billion, while the stablecoin’s market cap is valued at $160 billion.

It’s worth noting that on March 25, Ripple [agreed](https://forklog.com/news/xrp-vyros-na-5-posle-resheniya-ripple-po-tyazhbe-s-sec) to withdraw its counter-appeal against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as part of the [settlement](https://forklog.com/news/sec-otkazhetsya-ot-pretenzij-k-ripple) of its legal dispute.
