Release the Belt if Youre Not Defending It! Andy Aspinall Issues Challenge to Jon Jones

**Andy Aspinall**, the father of interim UFC heavyweight champion **Tom Aspinall**, has urged **Jon Jones** to relinquish the title if he is not willing to defend it against his son.

“I believe Tom has long earned his shot at the title. According to the contract with the UFC, every fighter is required to have three bouts a year. If you’re not interested in defending the title, then just give it up! Tom is eager to compete. As his coach, I also want him to fight at his best. It’s really frustrating to see him sitting in the gym doing nothing,” Andy Aspinall stated, as reported by MMA Mania.

For context, Jon Jones secured a victory by technical knockout in the third round against fellow American Stipe Miocic in his last fight, which took place at UFC 309 in November 2024. Meanwhile, Aspinall achieved a knockout victory over top UFC contender Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 in Manchester during his most recent match.

There are expectations that a fight between Aspinall and Jones could take place this summer.
