Release Announcement: Paint.NET 5.1.9 Comes with Exciting Updates and Fixes

At the end of July 2025, a stable version of the open-source graphic editor Paint.NET 5.1.9 was released for Windows 10/11 (64-bit). The previous version, the free raster graphics editor Paint.NET 4.0, launched in 2014, while Paint.NET 5.0 was made available in January 2023.

The Paint.NET 5.1.9 application features various updates and enhancements, which include:

— Improved localization;
— Fixed an issue where the levels correction and auto-levels features would crash when working with panoramic images due to an error in Direct2D that attempted to select an overly large texture;
— Resolved a problem with using a non-solid fill pattern with an opaque color, which caused incorrect colors to be displayed on a layer due to confusion between straight alpha and premultiplied alpha channels;
— Corrected a display issue where non-CMYK images with an embedded CMYK color profile were shown with completely inaccurate colors;
— Addressed several minor memory leaks.
