Realme 14 Pro Catches Fire on Flight from Irkutsk to Moscow, Passengers React Quickly

A Realme 14 Pro smartphone erupted in flames aboard an Ural Airlines flight from Irkutsk to Moscow. According to the airline’s press service, no one was harmed during the incident, as reported by RIA Novosti.

One passenger’s Realme 14 Pro suddenly ignited, prompting them to throw the device to the floor. Smoke filled the cabin, and other passengers rushed to douse the phone with water. Flight attendants, wearing fire-resistant gloves, removed the smartphone to the restroom, where they placed it in a bin, while ventilation in the cabin was shut off.

«The passengers seated nearby were given wet wipes, and a pregnant woman was moved to the rear of the aircraft,» Ural Airlines added, as reported by RIA Novosti.

A photo shared on social media shows the phone bent in half, with parts of its casing melted. Fortunately, the passenger did not sustain any injuries or burns. The only damage from the incident was to the carpet in the plane. Following the event, the flight safely arrived at its intended destination.

In April of this year, an Airbus A380 carrying 461 passengers made an emergency landing due to an iPad that got stuck in a seat. A flight from Los Angeles to Munich was redirected to Boston over concerns about the overheating lithium-ion battery of the device.

In March 2025, Air France returned a Boeing 777-300ER flight with 375 passengers and 12 crew members to the airport because a passenger had lost their smartphone aboard during the prior flight.
