Polish Retro-Horror Game Holstin Launching on Kickstarter This Summer

The Polish team Sonka has announced that their horror game Holstin will be available for support on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. The studio also released a video showcasing the game’s arsenal, ranging from bows to automatic weapons.

The Kickstarter campaign is set to launch this summer. Through this initiative, the developers aim to fund the final stages of development and gather resources for implementing additional ideas.

Set in 1992 in the remote town of Jeziorne-Colonia in eastern Poland, the events of Holstin unfold as a mysterious calamity consumes everything it touches, including people. The protagonist arrives in the town in search of a missing friend. The horror narrative draws inspiration from the television series “Twin Peaks”.

Players will need to gather weapons and scarce supplies, fight monsters, and interact with local residents, who are gradually losing their sanity. To gain insight into the townsfolk, players will have to delve into their inner worlds. The developers have taken cues from the franchises Resident Evil and Silent Hill.

One of the game’s standout features is its visual style, which blends pixel art with dynamic lighting. The camera is not fixed—it offers isometric views, side-scrolling perspectives, third-person shooting sequences, and first-person experiences during exploration.

Holstin will be available on PC (Steam), PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. A demo version is available on Valve’s platform. Russian subtitles have been confirmed.
