PlayStation Skips Gamescom for the Sixth Consecutive Year

Sony has officially announced, «Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) currently has no plans to participate in Gamescom 2025. However, we eagerly anticipate the exciting content and releases that will arrive later this year.»

It’s worth noting that Gamescom is the largest gaming exhibition in the world, held annually in Cologne, Germany. Since its inception in 2009, it attracts over 300,000 visitors each August.

This news likely comes as no surprise, as Sony has been absent from the event since 2019. This marks the sixth occasion where Gamescom attendees will miss seeing both the projects from PlayStation’s internal studios and those PlayStation 5 games funded by Sony from external developers.

Nonetheless, this does not imply that Sony will skip the Gamescom Opening Night Live presentation, where new titles are announced, and fresh trailers for anticipated games are showcased.

Among the confirmed participants for Gamescom 2025 are Xbox, Bethesda, Blizzard Entertainment, Activision, and Nintendo.
