The L1 blockchain Plasma, focused on stablecoins, has launched its mainnet along with the native token XPL.

The project enables commission-free transfers of USDT through its unique consensus mechanism, PlasmaBFT.

Developers are positioning Plasma as a solution for international monetary transactions. The blockchain is compatible with EVM and initially supports over 100 DeFi integrations, including platforms like Aave, Ethena, Fluid, and Euler.

The total value locked (TVL) in «stablecoins» from Tether on the platform has reached $2 billion, placing Plasma among the top 10 blockchains in this regard. The fully diluted valuation of XPL has surpassed $8 billion.

«Stablecoins represent money 2.0,» said the project’s CEO, Paul Fax.

He added that access to the dollar will broaden investment opportunities regardless of the nuances of local markets.

The XPL token launched at a price of $1.30 and has been listed on major cryptocurrency exchanges such as Bitget, OKX, Bybit, and MEXC. In addition to its listing, Binance has announced the inclusion of Plasma in On-Chain Yields.

Participants in the airdrop of 100 million XPL can stake any amount in USDT with a 7% APY.

At the time of this writing, the token is trading at approximately $0.70, which is 42.7% below its initial price. Its market capitalization has exceeded $1.4 billion, according to CoinGecko.

Simultaneously, an additional distribution of XPL tokens occurred. The Plasma team allocated 9,304 (~$7,000 at the time of writing) coins to each presale participant, during which the blockchain project raised $373 million.

The community has responded positively to this initiative from the platform.

According to various sources, the project also awarded free XPL based on roles in Discord, with users receiving between $4,800 and $18,000.
