Russian captain of the Washington Capitals, **Alexander Ovechkin**, has scored his 326th career power-play goal in the NHL, extending his own league record. On the night of April 17-18 (Moscow time), the Capitals’ captain made his mark during a power play in the 37th minute of an away game against the Pittsburgh Penguins (final score: 2-5).

With this achievement, Ovechkin has widened his lead to 52 power-play goals over the second-place holder, **Dave Andreychuk**, who has a total of 274 such goals. Third on the all-time list is **Brett Hull** with 265 power-play goals.
