Oreshchuk: No Doubt CSKA Will Compete for Championship Next Season

Former Russian football player Roman Oreshchuk identified Moscow’s CSKA as one of the top contenders for the championship in the Russian Premier League for the 2025/2026 season.

«There is no doubt that CSKA will compete for the title next season. I’m confident about that. Just look at the quality of the coach: how he has shaped the team and how CSKA plays. It’s a pleasure to watch this club, which feels like home to me. I’m happy for the army team’s successes. However, a lot will depend on transfers. If the club strengthens its squad, it will be one scenario. If not, CSKA will continue to struggle,» Oreshchuk shared in a conversation with journalist Vladislav Kruglov from «Championat.»

Marko Nikolic took charge of CSKA in the summer of 2024. Under the Serbian coach’s guidance, the club clinched the Fonbet Russian Cup, defeating Rostov in the final (0:0, 4:3 on penalties). In the Premier League, the army team finished third in the standings, amassing 59 points from 30 matches.
