OpenAI Welcomes AI Recommendation Startup Crossing Minds Team to Enhance Its Innovation Efforts

Crossing Minds, a startup offering AI-driven recommendation systems for e-commerce businesses, announced on Thursday that its team is joining OpenAI.

According to Crunchbase, the startup has received backing from Index Ventures, Shopify, Plug and Play, and Radical Ventures, raising over $13.5 million across multiple funding rounds.

Crossing Minds primarily collaborated with e-commerce companies to enhance their personalization and recommendation systems. The company claims to analyze customer behavior data on websites to gain insights into their shopping preferences while maintaining privacy.

“Joining OpenAI allows us to integrate our work and values into a mission we deeply respect: ensuring that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. We are excited to share our expertise and enthusiasm with a team that is shaping the future of AI. We look forward to contributing, learning, and helping to influence the future,” wrote the co-founders of the startup in a message on their website.

Alexandre Robique, one of Crossing Minds’ co-founders, has updated his LinkedIn biography. It remains unclear if the entire team from Crossing Minds will be joining OpenAI.

The Crossing Minds website also states that the company will no longer be accepting new clients. An archived «About Us» page previously mentioned that Crossing Minds earned the trust of Intuit, Anthropic, Udacity, and Chanel.

AI companies have launched various tools to assist users with their shopping experiences. Both Google and Perplexity have unveiled AI features to enhance recommendations, while startups like Daydream have secured significant investments to launch AI-powered shopping assistants.

Earlier this year, OpenAI updated ChatGPT to provide product recommendations, images, and reviews in response to user inquiries.
