OpenAI представляет усовершенствованный генератор изображений GPT Image 1.5 с новым уровнем интерактивности Translation: OpenAI unveils an upgraded image generator GPT Image 1.5 with a new level of interactivity.

OpenAI has launched an upgraded version of its image generation tool, ChatGPT Images — GPT Image 1.5. This model adheres more closely to prompts, excels in editing and detail preservation, and operates four times faster.

«The new image generation model in ChatGPT aligns better with your intentions by modifying only what you request while maintaining various elements such as lighting, composition, and the appearance of individuals,» the company stated on its X account.

This feature is accessible in the chatbot application for all users through a dedicated “Images” section on the sidebar.

“The new viewing and editing screens simplify the process of creating images that match your vision,” noted Fiji Simo, OpenAI’s CEO for applications.

The release of GPT Image 1.5 marks another step taken by Sam Altman following the declaration of a «code red» due to intensified competition from Google’s flagship solutions, Gemini 3 and Nano Banana Pro.

According to TechCrunch, OpenAI initially aimed to roll out the new image generator in early January, but the release was expedited.

Simo highlighted that the functionality of ChatGPT has improved with the integration of additional visual elements, making responses to search queries more interactive.

“If visuals can convey a story better than words alone, the chatbot should include them,” the executive stated.

In conjunction with developing its product line, OpenAI continues to attract investments. The Information reports that the company is negotiating a new deal with Amazon regarding the use of AI chips.

The amount may exceed $10 billion, but the specifics of the agreement have yet to be finalized.

Discussions commenced following the restructuring of OpenAI’s corporate framework, which has provided the company with greater flexibility in securing capital and fostering partnerships.

Amazon has invested at least $8 billion in the competing startup Anthropic and has been developing its own AI chips since 2015.

In recent months, OpenAI has committed more than $1.4 trillion to build infrastructure for artificial intelligence. However, the startup’s financial situation may be precarious, as indicated by a recent leak of documents.

OpenAI has recruited former UK Finance Minister George Osborne to assist in collaborations with governments in developing AI infrastructure.

This hiring is part of ChatGPT’s initiative to work with national governments and localize its products, inspired by the Stargate project.

As a reminder, in December, OpenAI introduced a series of AI models labeled GPT-5.2.
