New Star Wars Tactical Strategy Unveiling Scheduled for April Celebration in Tokyo

On April 18, Tokyo will kick off the Star Wars Celebration, a major festival dedicated to the Star Wars franchise. Within the framework of this event, Respawn Entertainment and Bit Reactor will unveil their tactical strategy game based on Star Wars.

The panel, during which the full announcement of the project will take place, is scheduled for April 19. Interestingly, in the schedule document, the upcoming title is labeled as a «turn-based tactical game,» while the initial announcement referred to it simply as a strategy game without further details.

However, in an April interview last year, Bit Reactor specialists hinted that they were working on turn-based tactics. By June, they openly acknowledged that they were indeed developing a tactical title. It’s worth noting that the studio was founded by veterans of Firaxis Games, known for their work on the XCOM and Civilization series.

In the comments to the announcement on Reddit, users express hope that Bit Reactor and Respawn will deliver something akin to XCOM, but set in the Star Wars universe. «If this is XCOM with ‘Star Wars’, please just inject it into me right now,» wrote one Redditor.
