Monthly Hero Releases Planned for Marvel Rivals Starting Season Three

Starting with the third season, set to launch later this year, the developers of Marvel Rivals plan to introduce new heroes on a monthly basis. They also aim to reduce the length of seasons from three months to two. This was announced by the creative director Guangyun Chen. Such an ambitious schedule seems to be a response to the project’s success.

While the first season introduced us to all the members of the Fantastic Four, NetEase is now shifting to a more relaxed pace, featuring two heroes per season. Nevertheless, this approach still significantly outpaces competitors like Overwatch 2, where new heroes emerge only twice a year.

In the meantime, the second season of Marvel Rivals is approaching, themed around the Hellfire Gala, which kicks off on April 11. Following the Eternal Night saga (the theme of the current season) and the victory over Dracula, Emma Frost has organized a lavish event, inviting everyone to don their finest attire and head to mutant paradise—Krakoa—for the annual Hellfire Gala. However, an uninvited guest, Ultron, crashes the celebration, and the assembled heroes must confront him.

Among the new heroes, Emma Frost and Ultron are expected to make their appearances. Frost will take on a frontline role, skillfully using her telepathic abilities and diamond transformation to fight alongside her allies and take down foes. A new map, Krakoa, will also be introduced.

The second season will feature fresh team combinations, as well as adjustments and the removal of some existing ones. The developers of Marvel Rivals will introduce weekly missions alongside the current daily tasks and challenges. More details about other new features will be shared closer to the launch of the third season.

Marvel Rivals is available on PC (Steam, EGS), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
