On July 31, in her opening match of the third round, Andreyeva (seeded fourth) lost to the 32nd-ranked player from the USA, Mckartney Kessler, with a score of 6:7 (5:7), 4:6. Prior to facing Kessler, Mirra had not played any singles matches in Toronto. She received a bye in the first round due to her high seeding, and in the second round, her opponent, Canadian Bianca Andreescu, withdrew before the match due to injury.

This year, before Montreal, the only tournament at which Mirra suffered a first-round loss was the WTA 500 grass tournament in Berlin, Germany, where she lost in three sets to Poland’s Magdalena Fręch.
