In the coming weeks, an on-chain rewards program from the ConsenSys-owned Web3 wallet MetaMask is set to launch. The project’s team announced this via the platform X.

MetaMask has described its initiative as “one of the largest on-chain rewards programs in history” and has committed to distributing over $30 million in LINEA tokens during the first «season.» Additionally, referral bonuses and incentives in the form of the stablecoin mUSD, along with exclusive partner rewards, are anticipated.

The team emphasized that long-time users of the wallet will receive special privileges. Rewards will also be linked to the MetaMask token (MASK), which ConsenSys CEO Joseph Lubin announced in mid-September.

Linea is a second-layer Ethereum network developed by ConsenSys to enhance transaction speed and reduce costs. It is integrated with the MetaMask ecosystem and supports scalable applications. In September, the project conducted a large-scale LINEA airdrop to attract users and developers.

Moreover, MetaMask recently launched the mUSD stablecoin, issued by the Bridge platform. The token is accessible on both Ethereum and Linea networks.

MetaMask claims that the rewards program is not a form of «yield farming,» but rather a means of “regularly supporting the community.”

The announcement has elicited mixed reactions. Some users on X, including crypto streamer Gainzy, expressed doubts about the initiative’s reception.

It is worth mentioning that in September, amidst a decline in LINEA’s price, Lubin promised rewards to token holders.
