Kulikov Explains Decision to Bring Russian Flag to Panthers Stanley Cup Parade

Russian defenseman of the Florida Panthers, **Dmitry Kulikov**, explained his decision to bring a Russian flag to the Panthers’ championship parade celebrating their Stanley Cup victory. During the festivities, Kulikov and his teammate, goaltender **Sergei Bobrovsky**, wrapped themselves in Russian flags.

**– This year’s parade had significantly more fans than last year. What do you think caused that?**
– Last year, even with less than ideal weather, it felt like there were a huge number of people. This year, however, I was told there were twice as many attendees. I’m not sure where they all fit, considering that last year it seemed every bit of space was filled. Perhaps the weather played a part, but I’d like to think our team has gained more fans, which would explain the larger crowd at the parade.

**– You carried the Stanley Cup past the fans and let them touch it…**
– It’s amazing to see so many people excited just to catch a glimpse of the Stanley Cup and see the players. That’s why they came – to experience those emotions.

**– What inspired the decision to bring the Russian flag to the parade?**
– Last year, everyone on the team received flags except for Sergei and me. This year, we decided to bring two flags with us. He actually gave me one because I only had a small one. In the end, we both ended up with flags, – Kulikov shared with Match TV.

It’s worth noting that Florida has claimed the Stanley Cup for the second consecutive year. As in the previous season, they triumphed over the Edmonton Oilers in the finals (4-2). Additionally, the Panthers have reached the finals for the third season in a row.
