Konoernov Reflects on Torpedos Progress Following Their Recent Match

The head coach of Moscow’s Torpedo, Oleg Kononov, addressed whether his team’s performance is improving this season following their goalless match against Neftekhimik in the second round of the PARI League. In the first round, the black-and-whites suffered a defeat to Chelyabinsk, losing 2-3.

**»It’s evident that after the preseason training camp and with two rounds behind us, do you think the players are making progress? Is the team’s game improving compared to the first round?»**
— «In our first match, we played in a similar fashion: we focused on positional attacks and had more ball possession. We conceded two goals from set pieces and scored two ourselves, with a couple of other chances as well. Naturally, it’s always desirable for the team to play offensively, dominating possession and converting a similar number of attacks into shots on goal. This can happen through a cross or a central breakthrough. We always aim for this, and we will keep striving towards it in our training,» Kononov’s comments were reported by Torpedo’s official website.
