«I simply lost control of the car as I exited the corner. It was a challenging day for us. I’m struggling to find the limits, and I have to push hard already in the first segment. Ultimately, I made a mistake, and I apologize for it. Getting into the second segment was definitely within reach,» Colapinto commented during a broadcast on Sky Sports.

Colapinto spun out in the final turn, ending up in the gravel trap and making contact with the wall. His car sustained damage, preventing him from returning to the pits, and he had to stop on the track. The session was halted with a red flag.

As a reminder, the current leader in the drivers’ standings is McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, who has amassed 216 points. His teammate Lando Norris is in second place with 201 points. Rounding out the top three is Max Verstappen from Red Bull, who has 155 points.
