Is Ambient the Future of AI on Blockchain, Outpacing Bitcoin?

The Ambient network, which aims to serve as a substitute for the original cryptocurrency, has successfully raised $7.2 million from investors including a16z, Delphi Digital, and Amber Group, according to a report by CoinDesk.

This blockchain technology is designed to deliver «super-intelligent AI» swiftly, cost-effectively, and transparently.

Travis Good, one of Ambient’s co-founders, believes that Bitcoin’s encryption methods are «becoming outdated» and may «lose their relevance entirely in five years.» This situation poses a business challenge for miners.

«There are those who have invested billions into hashrate. The question arises, what should be done about it?» the entrepreneur stated.

Ambient offers a response to this dilemma, touting its «deep capabilities in AI.» Good envisions it as a «decentralized competitor to OpenAI.»

The network utilizes a Proof-of-Work consensus algorithm.

Numerous cryptocurrency projects are attempting to merge blockchain with AI, believing that decentralized crowdsourcing can direct artificial intelligence towards benefiting humanity more effectively than private companies.

Unlike the market leader Bittensor, which does not deploy models on the blockchain, Ambient integrates AI at its core.

Whether Bitcoin miners—and users—will rally behind this radically new and unique network remains to be seen. According to CoinDesk, the answer likely hinges on Ambient’s economic success.

The project aspires to deliver super-intelligent AI quickly, affordably, and transparently, «ensuring that users get the answers they’ve paid for.»

Ambient’s security model resembles that of digital gold, while the network operates similarly to Solana.

Alex Goulding from Delphi highlights the «significant issue» of centralized AI being used by cryptocurrency projects, as it deprives users of the opportunity to understand how models are trained.

This approach could also mislead users with responses based on poor-quality data.

The «verified outputs» from miners (which form the basis for the reward mechanism) act as a fact-checking system, ensuring that the answers provided by Ambient originate from a model that users have compensated for.

It is worth noting that in November, developers launched a decentralized-focused AI project called Morpheus.
