Ilya Pomazun: Embracing Challenges at Spartak While Eyeing International Opportunities

The goalkeeper of Moscow’s Spartak, **[Ilya Pomazun](https://www.spartak.com/tags/15387-pomazun/)**, shared insights about the goalkeeping training within the red-and-white squad.

«Does the example of Safonov, who is competing with Donnarumma at PSG, inspire me? Absolutely, it’s an incredible case in today’s context. Before joining Spartak, I was open to offers from abroad. I wanted to experience a new culture and different style of football. However, I’ve already encountered that here, as we have an Italian goalkeeping coach. This is my first experience like this, as I had only previously worked with Russian-speaking coaches. I really enjoy it! I’m improving my English and learning to understand a different mentality. The training approach is significantly different: there is a greater emphasis on physical conditioning, with shuttle runs in the goalkeeping drills at various tempos to build endurance. It took me a couple of months to adjust, and my muscles needed time to get used to the intensity,» Pomazun said, according to Spartak’s official website.

Pomazun is a graduate of the CSKA academy. Spartak announced Ilya’s transfer in the winter of 2025. As reported by Transfermarkt, the player’s market value is estimated at €1.2 million. As of now, Pomazun has played three matches for Spartak, conceding two goals.
