Henderson: Ubisofts Upcoming Turn-Based Tactical Game Set in Rainbow Six Universe

A new day brings fresh insights from inside Ubisoft, and, as usual, the well-known insider Tom Henderson is here to share them. This time, he has reported that a turn-based tactical game set in the Rainbow Six franchise is currently in development at Ubisoft.

Henderson gathered this new information from two separate sources within the company. According to the details received, the upcoming game is expected to feature an isometric perspective, with familiar operators from  Rainbow Six Siege as the main characters.

One of Henderson’s sources described the gameplay as «a modern take on XCOM with cinematic cutscenes.» Throughout the missions, players will need to select various operators from Siege based on their skill sets, before launching assaults on buildings, rescuing hostages, and more. It’s reported that the game will have an estimated playtime of around 25-30 hours, although this may change in the future.

The sources also indicate that the title is expected to launch within the next 1-2 years for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and possibly Nintendo Switch 2. In the meantime, gamers will have to wait for an official announcement.

It’s important to keep in mind that throughout this year, Ubisoft will be establishing a new subsidiary that will take over the rights to the Rainbow Six franchise, along with Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. This new division will include existing company employees, so it’s likely that the development team will remain the same. However, Ubisoft‘s plans may be challenged by investors who are already demanding a review of their development strategy.
