Approximately 40% of the code at Coinbase is generated using AI. The exchange’s CEO, Brian Armstrong, aims to increase this figure to over 50% by October.

«Of course, the code must be reviewed and understood, and AI cannot be applied in all business areas. However, we must utilize it responsibly and as widely as possible,» the entrepreneur stated.

Since April, the amount of AI-generated code has doubled, as indicated by the provided chart.

«This has led to remarkable accomplishments that were unattainable just a year ago. For instance, some engineers can now refactor, update, or create new code bases in days instead of months,» Armstrong noted.

Earlier, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella mentioned that 20-30% of the company’s code is written by artificial intelligence.

It’s worth recalling that in August, Armstrong reported that Coinbase had let go of programmers who refused to integrate AI into their work. The company purchased enterprise licenses for GitHub Copilot and Cursor to incorporate AI into its workflows.
