Google запускает новый уровень ИИ в Chrome: возможности Gemini для пользователей открывают новые горизонты Translation: Google Launches a New Level of AI in Chrome: Geminis Capabilities Open New Horizons for Users

Google will begin integrating Gemini into Chrome for all PC and mobile users in the United States. Previously, the AI was exclusively available to subscribers of Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra.

Users will have the ability to ask the chatbot to analyze the content of web pages, manage multiple tabs, or perform various tasks within a single tab. For instance, they can schedule a meeting or search for videos on YouTube.

«We are evolving the browser to help you get the most out of the internet—using methods that seemed impossible just a few years ago. We’re doing this while maintaining the speed, simplicity, and security of Chrome that so many people appreciate,» said Rick Osterloh, the company’s senior vice president for devices and services.

Soon, the artificial intelligence will be capable of retrieving web pages that users have visited in the past. Users might ask, «On which site did I see that walnut table last week?»

The new Gemini in Chrome features deeper integration with Google applications like Calendar, YouTube, and Maps. This allows access to services without needing to navigate to different pages.

The corporation is also adding an enhanced AI Mode search function directly within the Chrome address bar. With this feature, users can pose complex inquiries and delve deeper into topics by making follow-up questions.

The update will begin rolling out in September in English in the United States, followed by expansions to other countries.

The company stated that soon Chrome will leverage the Gemini Nano model to detect and protect against fraudulent schemes, such as fake virus warnings and scams.

The browser remains the primary tool for internet access and is increasingly becoming a battleground for competition in the consumer AI sector.

For years, Google and Apple have dominated this space, which is why the U.S. Department of Justice sought to compel the American corporation to divest Chrome as part of antitrust proceedings. However, the court rejected this proposal.

Meanwhile, Apple plans to launch its own AI-based search engine, which will be integrated into the Siri voice assistant.

AI rivals are introducing their own solutions. In January, the startup OpenAI unveiled an agent called «Operator,» designed to perform online tasks on behalf of users.

In August, Anthropic introduced an extension for its AI agent Claude in Chrome, while a month prior, Perplexity launched its own AI-based web browser called Comet.

Google has announced new agent capabilities for Gemini in Chrome. Agentic AI allows for the creation of customized services that can perform specific tasks.

In the coming months, users will be able to delegate tasks such as booking haircuts or ordering groceries for the week. Previously, such features were available in the internal Project Mariner initiative.

PayPal announced a strategic partnership with Google to develop new AI-driven commerce solutions. In return, the payment company’s tools will be integrated into products from the American corporation, with planned collaboration with its cloud division for hosting and enhancing the technological infrastructure.

The companies did not specify what particular agent-driven commerce capabilities they plan to develop. It is known that Google will provide its AI and expertise, while PayPal will leverage its global payment infrastructure, personalization, and identity solutions.

Additionally, both firms will join others in promoting the Agent Payments Protocol.

As part of the deal, PayPal will become a key payment provider for services like Google Cloud, Google Ads, and Google Play.

Google announced that users will be able to transfer their Gems—personalized AI assistants and experts created for specific tasks.

They emerged in 2024 as part of the paid subscription service Gemini Advanced. With this feature, users can give instructions and receive chatbots designed for specific scenarios.

The company offered ready-made AI assistants: a study mentor, brainstorming partner, career consultant, text editor, and programming collaborator.

Now, the corporation has enabled users to share settings with friends, family, or colleagues. This helps to avoid situations where different users create the same assistants. The new feature will also be useful for collaborative planning of family vacations, menu creation, or team projects.

As a reminder, in August, Google launched AI Mode in 180 countries.
