Godot 4 Game Engine Successfully Ported to Aurora OS 5

An enthusiast known as Sashikknox has successfully ported the Godot 4 engine to the mobile operating system «Aurora 5». The binary files are available for download via Telegram, allowing users to build and export projects for Aurora. Currently, developers can refer to an instruction guide created for Godot 3 for exporting, but Sashikknox has promised to provide a similar guide for Godot 4 in the future.

According to the enthusiast, projects should run in «Compatibility» mode, which utilizes GLES3. Future versions of Aurora are expected to support «Forward» mode, which leverages Vulkan and is compatible with mobile GPUs.

Additionally, the game Brotato has also been launched on Aurora. This arena shooter incorporates roguelike elements, where players control a potato character and fend off waves of enemies. Brotato is available for purchase on Steam and was developed using the Godot 3 engine.

The port of Godot 3 to Aurora was also carried out by Sashikknox, and the builds can be found on GitHub. The porting of the game Brotato is being handled by a user known as kotdath, who has added an on-screen joystick to facilitate character control without the need for a keyboard or gamepad. The PC version from Steam serves as the foundation for this adaptation.

On March 24, 2025, the launch of the Unreal Engine 4 gaming engine on Aurora was announced. The adaptation was carried out by MAI student Alexander Navrotsky, who obtained the source code for Unreal Engine 4 as part of his master’s thesis and ported it to «Aurora 5» using the Aurora SDK. So far, only the basic functionality has been implemented—the engine can be launched. According to Alexander Navrotsky, the aim of this initial stage was to demonstrate that the task is indeed feasible.
