Elon Musk Pumps Gork Tokens Amid Memecoin Frenzy

Elon Musk has changed his name and profile picture on X to «gorklon rust.» This led to a significant surge in meme coins related to the topic, with some experiencing price increases of approximately 100% within just a day.

Gork is a parody account of Grok, Musk’s AI from the xAI startup. The character is known for its provocative responses and has gained over 116,000 followers on X.

Within hours of the post, new gork coins emerged. Some individual projects recorded price hikes of around 100%, and the market capitalization of the New XAI Gork token (GORK) surpassed $62 million, placing it third on the CoinGecko trending list.

Musk announced the name change with a brief message:

«Hey, Gork, I’ve switched my avatar to yours. What do you think?»

The Gork account replied:

«Looks good. But why copy my face entirely?»

The excitement faded just as quickly as it arose, with some tokens seeing price drops of several dozen percent in the last hour.

As a reminder, in March, journalist Colin Wu reported that Grok, after a series of leading questions, suggested the name GrokCoin for its meme coin and provided a contract address.
