DuckDuckGo Introduces Feature to Filter Out AI-Generated Images from Search Results

The DuckDuckGo browser has introduced a new setting that allows users to filter out images generated by AI from search results. This feature was launched in response to user feedback regarding difficulties in finding authentic images.

To access this new option, users can search on DuckDuckGo and navigate to the «Images» tab. Here, they will find a new dropdown menu labeled «AI-Generated Images.» Users can choose whether they want to see AI-created content by selecting «Show» or «Hide.»

Additionally, users can enable the filter in the search settings by clicking on «Hide AI-Generated Images.»

The filter utilizes manually compiled open blocklists, including a «core» list provided by uBlockOrigin and the uBlacklist Huge AI Blocklist. While it may not capture 100% of AI-generated results, it will significantly reduce the number of such images displayed, according to DuckDuckGo.

The browser plans to incorporate more filters in the future.

Previously, DuckDuckGo announced that AI-generated responses would be provided for certain queries in the search engine. The company has also integrated web search capabilities into its AI chatbot.
