Deadly Drone Assault in Odesa: Two Lives Lost and 14 Injured Amid Intensified Attacks

A Russian drone attack on the southern Ukrainian city of Odesa resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to 14 others, including children, local officials reported on Saturday.

Moscow has intensified its drone and missile assaults on Ukraine, coinciding with the stalled peace negotiations initiated by the United States to resolve the ongoing three-year conflict.

«Rescuers retrieved the bodies of two individuals from the debris following a drone strike on a residential building,» stated Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper via Telegram.

The attack, which occurred overnight, also left 14 people injured, with Kiper noting that «three of them were children.»

In a separate incident, officials from the Kherson region in southern Ukraine reported that one person died and three others sustained injuries from Russian strikes in the past 24 hours.

«Russian forces targeted essential infrastructure and residential areas in the region,» reported Kherson Governor Oleksandr Prokudin on Telegram early Saturday.

The invasion by Russia has claimed tens of thousands of lives, displacing millions and causing extensive damage in eastern Ukraine.

Throughout the conflict, Ukraine has conducted retaliatory strikes against Russian targets.

On Saturday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that its air defense systems had intercepted 31 Ukrainian drones during the night.

Additionally, Moscow claimed to have taken control of another village in the Donetsk region, which has been asserted by the Kremlin as part of Russia since late 2022.

Russia has insisted that Ukraine must relinquish more territory and abandon Western military assistance as a prerequisite for peace—demands that Kyiv deems unacceptable.
