Crafting Scents of Cultural Heritage: Moscow Perfumeries Celebrate Technological Sovereignty and Russian Traditions

Moscow’s perfume manufacturers are creating new fragrances with the support of the city. Companies are developing perfumes, scented candles, and diffusers, blending traditional and modern elements. These scents capture the essence of the city and the distinctive features of its culture, as reported by Anatoly Garbuzov, the Minister of the Moscow Government and Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy.

Garbuzov stated that the city is assisting businesses in acquiring equipment, implementing new technologies, and expanding their product lines. One brand has created a fragrance symbolizing technological sovereignty, while another is formulating perfumes that reflect the atmosphere of Russian life and nature.

For instance, the perfume brand Vdohni collaborated with the D.I. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia and the company «Inherit OS» from the Softline group to develop a scent representing technological sovereignty. Students and specialists were involved in the creation process. This multi-layered fragrance captures the essence of the IT sector, embodying reliability and a fusion of tradition and innovation. The companies plan to utilize it at events, showcases, and as an aroma sticker on Inherit’s devices.

Polina Kazakova, the founder of the brand, shared that in the project with «MSVSfera,» the scent evokes the smell of cold metal and the precision of algorithms, incorporating both classic and synthetic notes. This combination creates a sense of digital breathing.

Another local brand, Voronoi, crafts fragrances inspired by memories. One of their scents mimics the aroma of a damp forest after rain, evoking childhood images and a connection to nature. Another fragrance is inspired by mornings at a summer cottage, featuring notes of black currant and young greenery. Additionally, their collection includes perfumes reminiscent of winter tea gatherings, with hints of brewed black tea, raspberry leaves, prunes, and subtle baked goods.
