Contract Negotiations between Ottawa and Forward Claude Giroux Hit a Standstill – TSN

The Ottawa Senators are struggling to reach an agreement with forward Claude Giroux on a new contract, according to TSN. The current deal for the 37-year-old player with the team is set to expire on June 30 of this year.

«These negotiations are proving to be frustrating for both parties. I’ve been informed that there has been no progress between them. The dispute revolves around the bonus amounts and their structure, with discussions focused on a one-year agreement. Giroux is fully intent on extending his contract with Ottawa, but the process is proving to be challenging,» reported TSN insider Pierre LeBrun.

In the last season, Giroux played in 81 regular-season games, accumulating 50 points (15 goals and 35 assists). In the playoffs, he recorded 5 points (1 goal and 4 assists) over six games.
