Claude AI Now Transforms Canva Designs Directly from Chat Integration

Claude from Anthropic can now create and edit designs in Visual Studio Canva directly from the AI chat interface. This integration is facilitated by Canva’s server that utilizes the Model Context Protocol (MCP) from Anthropic.

Claude has access to various Canva tools, including Figma, Notion, Stripe, and Prisma, enabling it to design or locate assets within the user’s workspace.

This integration lets users search for keywords within documents, presentations, and branded Canva templates, while also summarizing them through the Claude AI interface.

To utilize this feature, users need both a paid Canva account (starting at $15 per month) and a paid Claude account (beginning at $17 per month).

Anthropic employs the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that Canva launched last month, granting Claude secure access to user-generated content on Canva. Various AI platforms have begun to adopt MCP to link their models to applications. Anthropic introduced its MCP in November.

«Rather than uploading or manually transferring ideas, users can now generate, summarize, review, and publish Canva projects—all within the Claude chat. MCP makes this possible with a simple toggle, marking a significant step towards seamless AI-driven workflows that blend creativity with efficiency,” stated Anwar Hanif, head of the Canva ecosystem.

Additionally, Anthropic has established a catalog of all platforms utilizing the MCP technology. This catalog allows users to find and access remote services and local applications that connect to Claude. A subscription is required for connectivity, and the company is likely to continue expanding its list of supported services.

In June, OpenAI announced the capability to connect ChatGPT with Google Drive, Gmail, Outlook Teams, and other services for real-time contextual information and more precise responses. The chatbot organizes and visually presents data from documents while adhering to organizational permissions at the user level, the company explained. Organization administrators will be able to create custom ChatGPT connectors using the MCP protocol.
