CIA Deputy Director Calls Bitcoin a Tool in the Fight Against China

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States is utilizing Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as tools against China and other geopolitical adversaries. This was stated by the agency’s Deputy Director, Michael Ellis, during a podcast with Pomp Investments founder Anthony Pompliano.

According to him, digital assets have become a focal point of technological competition between the U.S. and China, prompting the agency to use them as «another tool in its arsenal.»

Ellis clarified that Bitcoin is not an anonymous system, but rather a private one. The CIA is already working with law enforcement agencies to track «illegal cryptocurrency transactions carried out by wrongdoers,» he added.

The agency representative emphasized that blockchain technologies provide intelligence with new opportunities for analyzing the actions of adversaries.

«Bitcoin is here to stay. More and more institutions are recognizing it — this trend will continue to grow,» the CIA’s Deputy Director stated.

It is worth noting that in early March, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to establish a strategic Bitcoin reserve based on assets confiscated by the Treasury.
