Chesnokov: Mirra Andreyeva Struggles on Grass Compared to Other Surfaces

The former world number nine in singles, **[Andrei Chesnokov](https://www.championat.com/tag/32059-andrej-chesnokov/)**, shared his thoughts on the performance of Russian player **Mirra Andreyeva** on grass courts.

Today, on July 3rd, the 18-year-old Andreyeva triumphed over Italian tennis player Lucia Bronzetti (ranked 63rd in the world) in the second round of Wimbledon 2025, winning with a score of 6:1, 7:6 (7:4).

«Mirra isn’t the strongest player on grass compared to other surfaces. I think grass presents more of a mystery for her than other types of courts. However, her coach is Conchita Martínez, who once won **[Wimbledon](https://www.championat.com/tag/9717-uimbldon/)** herself. One wouldn’t describe her as a grass court specialist; her strength was her baseline game.

With each season, Mirra is learning something new. Perhaps she will improve her grass game this time around. Last season, she lost every match on grass, but at the moment, she has a positive record. It’s not her best surface, but I hope she will find her footing on grass,» Chesnokov commented in an interview with **Championat** correspondent Yegor Kabak.

In the third round of Wimbledon 2025, **[Mirra Andreyeva](https://www.championat.com/tag/34175-mirra-andreeva/)** will face the winner of the match between Hailey Baptiste (USA) and Victoria Mboko (Canada, LL).
