ChatGPT запускает рекламные объявления для пользователей с недорогим тарифом, улучшая доступ к ИИ Translation: ChatGPT launches ad announcements for users on a budget plan, enhancing access to AI

OpenAI has initiated advertising within ChatGPT for adult users on the budget Go plan and those without a paid subscription.

The feature’s testing has commenced in the United States. The Go plan, priced at $8 per month, was introduced globally in mid-January. Users subscribed to Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise will not see any paid content.

«Advertising does not influence the responses of the chatbot. Commercial ads are marked as sponsored and visually separated,» claims OpenAI.

The company emphasized that maintaining speed and reliability for Free and Go users requires substantial investments in infrastructure. Advertising will help sustain service operations and broaden access to artificial intelligence.

Commercial content is selected based on the conversation topic, previous chats, and how users have engaged with sponsored ads. For instance, searching for recipes may display a grocery delivery service.

Users have the option to disable ads, but this will result in a reduced number of free messages per day.

OpenAI reiterated that advertisers do not have access to users’ chats, conversation history, saved data, or personal information. They only see aggregate performance metrics like view counts or clicks.

«Users often turn to ChatGPT when exploring options, comparing ideas, and making decisions. During these moments, advertising serves as a means to introduce individuals to products and services they might find appealing,» the announcement stated.

The company plans to enhance the relevance of commercial advertisements.

Just days before the advertising launch, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman informed employees and investors that ChatGPT had «once again exceeded 10% monthly growth.» He added that the company is preparing to launch an updated version of the chat.

The programming tool Codex saw a 50% increase in just a week. It competes with Anthropic’s Claude Code, which gained substantial popularity throughout 2025.

In February, OpenAI unveiled a new version of the programming AI model, GPT-5.3 Codex, shortly after the launch of Anthropic’s flagship neural network, Claude Opus 4.6.

«This has been a great week,» Altman reported.

In its inaugural Super Bowl ad, Anthropic mocked OpenAI, highlighting the integration of advertising into the ChatGPT chatbot:

Altman noted that the ads were «misleading and that OpenAI will obviously never advertise as portrayed by Anthropic.»

By the end of 2025, the popularity growth of ChatGPT began to slow down amid the successes of competitors like Google and Anthropic.

This caused concern at OpenAI, reflected in a “red code” memorandum.

In January, prominent investor George Noble stated that he has observed company collapses for several decades, and OpenAI shows all signs of an impending downfall.
