Carol Garcias Turning Point: The Moment She Decided to Retire from Tennis

Former world number four, the French tennis player Caroline Garcia, shared her thoughts on her decision to retire from professional tennis this season.

“At the end of last year, after taking a break and deciding to return, I aimed to play the season with my own goals while embracing a sense of ease that I’ve often lacked throughout my career. After the Australian Open, I realized that it was okay to step back, and I felt good about that choice.

My career has been full of experiences, both positive and challenging. I want to explore new opportunities. As much as I enjoy competing and everything that comes with it, it’s become overwhelming for me. I can pursue specific goals if I want to, but I no longer have the emotional strength to sustain that throughout the season. I also want to start a family,” Garcia’s words were reported by L’Equipe.
